Finding God

No, this is not an article about God. No, this is not a spoof on God. And yes, the title was meant to be read like 'Finding Nemo' or 'Finding Dory'.

Recently through a new game that I have adopted, I involved myself into quite a survey on the NH8 highway connecting Delhi and Gurgaon. The game involved finding any reference to Lord Krishna (image or text) during the one hour journey that i took everyday on the same route from my home to office. Well, I started onto this game with just fun and some faith. I only thought that in a country like ours where God is more feared than prayed to, it shouldn't be hard to find the reference. I had no idea that this vague game would turn to a survey stretching over more than a week and now translating to a blog post.

From most common to rarest in nature -
God is omnipresent or so we are told. Yet, I think people believe that Lord Hanuman is lost somewhere. Most people like to keep idols or plastic mutations of his look-a-like in flying pose in their cars. This is only given competition to by Lord Shiva who is remembered through the writings 'Om', 'Om Namah Shivay', 'Shiv', so on and forth. If we take a whole count of both image and text included, Shiv ji would win. If we take a separate count, Hanuman ji would win the image/statue category. Well, i don't think this should be much of a concern since Hanuman ji is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva himself. Hence, in a way the award goes to the same super being.

Following them closely are people they loved most. In text form, Lord Ram has to be quite significantly seen. Now, I am sure that we don't really understand Ram. I mean, we are taught he was great and a God incarnation and thus, we bow are heads and fold our hands and pray to him. But do we really know him? As a person - how did he become so beloved and maryada-purshottam? Yet, whenever a child goes to school in India and is taught any language, he or she makes sentences using Ram as the person. No other name strikes. Same goes to the people who own cars. Naam toh likhwa liya, par Ram ko na dhoondha... na paaya. 
In the image/statue category, the runners up position is taken by Ganesh ji. Now, every time you go buy a car, if you are a Hindu, the car vendor will himself give you a Ganesh idol to place in the car. This number gets impacted as some people want fancier or different idols and also, Hanuman ji id modelled into a flying miniature which is tied to the rear view mirror and present along with others Gods. Also, Ganesh ji doesn't have any stickers and very rare textual appearance.
Overall, it would be difficult to judge whom to place ahead of the other. So, lets call this a tie.

Third place is occupied by Lord Krishna. I didn't imagine but my game was quite easy once I started playing. Quite a few people adore their cars with multiple representations of Lord Krishna - picture sticker, name, chant, name reference under a bow which has to be a symbol of some religious guru. There are lot many images of his childhood form, his peacock feather or his murali. Even in text form you can find his name in quite a few places.

In my journey, I am also bound to find atleast one car with Lord Durga sticker. A very few cards will have the waheguru symbol and even fewer cars will have the cross hanging from the rear view mirrors.

Apart from these inferences on popularity of Gods and Godesses, there are two other important inferences that i derived from this little experiment.
Firstly, the cars I see daily are almost the same except that the number changes. Like there is a car with 'Kapoor' green coloured sticker on the hind window. I see it often but not daily. Thus, we can safely conclude that almost the same bunch of people are using the road everyday during the same time of the day. Also, this group can thin or thick as they wish. In General, I see more cars without any God reference increase gradually.

Second and the important inference is that most of the cars that have God images or name stickers or statues are with yellow number plates or to put it formally, are the commercial vehicles. Forget buses and trucks but most of these are taxis (thanks to Ola and Uber). Now, as a passenger I would feel concerned if I am to travel with a stranger on the NH and the car has so much God on it that it practically screams - only God can help complete this trip safely.


I am not sure but since I have used God and names of Gods so much, hopefully this post might be pretty successful.

The I-Love-You Conundrum


I LOVE YOU! Often considered to be the three most beautiful words to be ever heard, they are actually misunderstood.
Simply putting it, loving someone doesnt mean that you get married to the person, have kids and spend rest of your life with them. I love chocolates but all the fore said things are not possible with chocolates. Now, you would argue that a chocolate is not a living entity. So, I love dogs, especially puppies. Who can not love those tiny bundles of soft fur, button eyes gleaming with innocence and cute faces. Again, you can argue that I am a human. So, let us get more specific. I love my mother, my father, my siblings, my grandmother, my grandfather, my uncles, my aunts, my friends and the list goes on. I love them and I want them (or specific ones whom I can tolerate) to be around me all the time. I want them to be a part of my laughs and share my sorrows. I want them to see my grow old and stupid and still love me back.


You see, love IS NOT just being around a person all the time. That's almost a punishment, like being in bars all the time (JAIL). Love IS to willingly spend time with someone you can be yourself with and enjoy every moment, be it joy or sorrow. Love is to accept a person as they are. Love is to be yourself and let them be themselves.
Recently, this term has been distorted and modified. It is now almost a synonym to infatuation, affection, obsession or even lust. Consider this, the English are good learned people. I am sure that they didnt create these multiple words just to make their dictionaries thicker or to write the thesaurus or just to mock others. Yes, there are words with very slight difference but the difference is significant enough to distinguish them into two different words.


Now, having said all the above, I am no expert in this subject. Everything I write is what I believe and none of you are obligated to follow this. I just want to say that being a girl, I can fall in love with a guy. I can adore him for the person he is. I can enjoy his talks that the others dont understand. I can care for him like family. I can fight with all the rights over his life. I can want to spend the rest of my life knowing him. I can plan of activities for the two of us for like forty years from today. And yet, this person need not be a lover or a husband. He is can be my father, brother, friend or best friend - depending on how much they are comfortable to share back. If you dont agree, read the above lines again with a different perspective. Since I started with 'I can fall in love with a guy', automatically, the brain gets triggered to picture a couple.

Coming to the title - firstly it is inspired by The Big Bang Theory episode titles. Secondly, you might wonder that the conundrum here is that if I say 'I Love You', which sort of 'I Love You' it is. Do I love him like a brother, a father, a friend or a lover? Actually, wrong! This is very simple. Love is a feeling and if I say 'I Love You', it doesnt make any difference unless it is reciprocated. If I say I-Love-You to my dad and he replies back to his daughter, I love him like a dad. This concept is just like bro-zoned. Let a girl call you a brother but unless you too want to consider her your sister, doesnt really end your chances of hitting on her.
The Conundrum I speak of is the confusion we have with our feelings. Its a simple word and let us stop confusing it with the other ones.

Well, maybe the feeling I spoke of, has a different name altogether and I am the one unenlightened. Well, if you know, do share.

An Ideal Husband

Yesterday, I was watching 'Khichdi' television series. It is an Indian Comedy Series and trust me, it is
definitely at par with the world popular sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory, is not more. The only thing is that as Hindi aint spoken world-wide, therefore, it still is not famous.

Anyways, so you need to know a very little about the show right now. It is about a Gujarati family which is unique in their own way. They have very different mannerisms from the rest of the world and are very happy in the way they are. They are totally insane and will drive you crazy. However, you can not help loving them. All of the characters are just too sweet and innocent. They can do stupid things but never hurt a single person, not even by mistake.

So... yesterday, when I was seeing the show, I just told my mother that when she would find a guy for me, she should find someone like Prafful. Prafful and Hansa are the total show stealer. They are a total brainless couple and in all the sense, complete each other. They love each other, with all their flaws and most importantly, they love each other for their flaws. They can not live without each other. So only I told my mum to find me a guy like him.

You know, their love story may not involve a lot of romance or going to exotic locations but that is nor love. Their love story includes going to jail together as they can't live without one another. Their love is about Prafful buying gajras for Hansa because she loves them, DAILY. Their love is about the two of them playing antakshari and
singing medleys of Bollywood songs, dedicating to each other. Their love story is about Prafful defending Hansa even before she speaks for herself. Their love story is about Hansa telling that her biggest achievement is marrying Praful. Their love story is about not doing anything but just staying there together.
You know, you should just see the way they look at each other. The way they would give gestures even when the other person is speaking. They would look at each other before laughing or any other emotion. And even after so many years of their marriage, they have that pure tender love. They even think the same. For the same situation, both of them would think the same stupid thing. And they would understand each other even without a word.

I mean, of course I would want to do job and not sit idle all day... but if you ask me what kind of love story I want - I want to marry a guy I adore and that he too would adore me. He should love me not with my flaws but for my flaws. He should laugh at my stupid jokes and complete my songs. He should buy me novels to read and yet read me a story before bed. I don't want him to be the prince but I want him to pamper me as a princess - his princess.

Khichdi, has a total crazy family but
they all love each other so much. Their love for one another is just unconditional. They know the world hates them or is afraid of them but they don't care. Instead, they are so engrossed in each other that they hardly have anytime to think of what the world has to say.

To me, Praful is definitely the ideal husband. He sees Hansa to be the most pretty lady on the planet. He accepts her for who she is and loves her that way. He never forces her for anything and never is irritated by her. Hansa is very much dependent on Praful to know everything. She is naive and innocent and more importantly, has a huge problem with understanding English. She would ask him a thousand times about the different words in English and everytime he would smile and explain it to her. He would play with her. He would go with her everywhere. He would sing her songs and buy her gifts. And the most adorable thing that I found in him, he is too proud to call her his! 'Meri Hansa' !!

Inshallah, someday I will find my Praful ;)

My New Year Resolution : 2015

I thought this time no resolution at all! You see, every year, I think of a resolution. For the last few days of the going year, I fuss over what should be the resolution and what should not be... and then on the Day 1 (like today), I keep that resolution... and then what?

I can't even remember what my resolution was for 2014!! That is bad!

Therefore, I said - no resolution this year!

But then, I felt extremely good today. I was at work and there was a colleague who was sitting beside me. She was doing the same work and me and therefore, we did the work together. The ease with which she was doing, made me feel so good. Because when I was doing it all alone, I was so confused and nervous that it made me feel that I did not know a thing. Today, I felt I am not completely useless :P

Back to the topic... when I felt good, I thought hard and found out that the real reason behind the random happiness is that I am learning something. I am gaining knowledge.

You see, people always say that we work so hard at our jobs but don't get paid for it. Guys, common. Just look at it the other way. You are gaining so much knowledge. You might not realize it but you are learning so much. It makes us such a better person altogether. That knowledge is something that can not be afforded !!

Then, I changed my thought.

Everyday, I am going to try and learn. I will talk, have fun and enjoy but I will learn more.

This is my resolution and I hope I fulfill it.

If I were to lose all my five senses, except one, which one would I choose and why?


Okay… I know that I don’t really blog such kind of things and this would be my first attempt but this was the topic given to me at the Just-A-Minute competition conducted at my college during our annual fest this year. First of all, I take this big platform to thank Hemanshu Joshi… who not only convinced me to take part but is a very nice person to know and a wonderful secretary. I am glad that the committee came to you and Arun, of course, who is equally a gem! Thank you guys! :)

Now….

If I were to lose all my five senses, but one, I would choose to keep my eye sight. Quite honestly, I feel my eyes are really pretty and I would never want to lose them. Furthermore,

"All things bright and Beautiful
All creatures great and small
All things wise and wonderful…
The good Lord made them all!"

The God has created a wonderful and beautiful world for us. I don't want to lose my eyes and miss any part of this mystical creation of the Lords'. I also plan to donate my eyes after I leave, so someone else could have my pretty eyes and also see this wonderful world.
Moving ahead… I may not be able to touch someone but I can see them in front of me. I guess that is sufficient. I already know the fire would burn me, I can see a fire and judge that. I don't need to burn myself each time.
I may not be able to talk to you but you can always write to me and if I can see, I can read what you want to tell me. Also, I might not be able to talk to you but I can write back (but hey, speaking is not in the five senses, is it?) and then you can read what I want to say to you.
I may not be able to hear your voice and figure out how you feel but I can always see you smile or frown and act accordingly. Voice can be manipulated but your expressions cannot be.
I may not be able to taste something and tell how it is but I can see the colour and have a fairly good idea of how it would be tasting. I can see the look on the face of someone smelling it and figure out if they like it… I can see how you look when you taste it and know if you like it or not.

Now, I don't say that the other senses are replaceable… It is just a simple perspective, which btw, won me the first position. So just thought I would share!!

This is a very personal post! I am putting this in my blog, nonetheless, because I don’t know where else I can keep it so that I could reference it easily, a few years hence.

I was just thinking of what lse to write in another post when I thought about a name - 'Poonam' and definitely I just love this name. So, I thought that if my yet-unborn daughter's name is to be kept from the alphabet P, it is definitely 'Poornima' (for that is a little better name) and her house name will be 'Poonam'. Apart from that, I have always wanted to name my yet-unborn daughter 'Sneha' (since Mr. Bajaj and Prerna had their daughters grow old in Kasauti)…

Therefore, I thought that in case I forget, I definitely need a list of all the names and here it is!!

It’s the way you want to see, that you see things!


I am sure that each one of us has heard this statement quite a few times but what matters is that how many people actually follow it. It is easier done than said - no, you didn’t read incorrect, I did write - 'easier done than said'.
You know life's isnt that cruel as we sometimes see it as but it is often that we see life as so cruel that it gets so!

I know, you might be thinking that it is very easy to write it on the internet… but well, I can prove it to you if you give me another few precious minutes of your time and scroll down to read what I am going to write.

I am sure you must have heard the song - 'Bheege Honth Tere' of movie Murder… popularly of Mallika Sherawat and Emraan Hashmi fame. It is one of the deep romantic and seductive songs of hindi cinema. But is that so?
Whenever I hear the song, I don’t  feel anything romantic or seductive about it, instead, I think it is a devotional song - devotion to God!

First of all, I don’t intend to hurt anyone… so please don’t get offended. I am just here to say that it is the way you look at things. Today, people find something adult in normal words and I just like to find a normal meaning even in adult talks. But with this I don’t intend to hurt any emotions.
Moreover, I have placed this things in the jokes section as often things that are more casual, contain the deepest of the meanings.

With this post, I just intend to share a little thing in my heart and hope that I could at least show that there are many facets for anything, we just need to look hard enough.

Alok Nath Memes.... #AlokNath #Sanskari

I am sure that you have checked out the new 'Alok Nath' memez on the internet… Well, Alok Nath is one of the permanent team members of the Rajshri group :P and he is seen in a lot of Rajshri movies like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hain and Vivah… and but to the Gen-X, he is more popularly known as Haveli Ram of Buniyaad.
My parents are keen watchers of Buniyaad, so everytime it would rerun on the television, I had to see it. Well, I just mentioned this to state that I have seen his other avatars apart from the being 'sanskaari' ones…

It was a pleasant surprise and even a little shock that the internet is today filled with Alok Nath memez or the 'sanskari' memez and to be honest, they are hilarious.
If I were to reveal a little secret, I never loved Rajnikant jokes… or CID jokes… they were very good and everything but at times they were hyped beyond the extent and that was when they got boring instead of funny.

On the other hand, I don’t know why but Alok Nath memez are just too good and fantastic. They are not boosting like rotating the earth or breaking doors… they relate to Alok Nath in terms of the characters that he plays and ones he is known for.

If ever you read this, Alok Nath sir,
No one intents to hurt you or humiliate you… we all love you and that is why you are so much talked about. It’s a marvel that so many people love you and please don’t be offended!!

Happy Independence Day!


Happy 66th Independence Day to each and every citizen of India.
As we enter the 67th year of freedom, I glance and see what a long way we have come. Foremost, we shall never forget the dignitaries to whom we own this freedom to - not only the great named leaders whose names make to each history book but rather the thousands of soldiers and countrymen who sacrificed their wealth, property, lives and even the lives of their loved ones to give us this safe land.
Its not that I am not thankful enough to idols namely Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Bhagat Singh, Rani Laxmi Bai and several others, but they were in the true sense the ideas which moved the nation; there were several other like them who were able to move only a smaller mass but they did their best to ward off even the last of the Britishers.




Well, this aint any article to remind anyone of the Indian Independence war or any such thing.
Let me make this very clear, no matter how much ever I love my country and love its freedom, I cant deny that Britishers were definitely one of the good things that happened to the progress of this country. No offence to anyone, but yes they were the ones who got the Railway tracks, which we now so proudly call the largest Railway Network of the world! They got Industrialization and so many things more.

On this really great occasion, I feel pleased but at the same time I really don’t understand why do we feel this patriotism only twice every year? Why only each and every Indian gets this feelings only on National Holidays? Is it because on National Holidays it is off and we don’t have anything better to do? Or is this because on National Holidays we get Holidays?
Whatever it is, this country is really huge and the feeling is even bigger…


India, it is not a country, not just a country. It is a mixture of thousands of people from different diverse backgrounds, who are as different from each other as much as they can be but are in perfect harmony. India is the place where we have Ramazan as grand as Navratri or Christmas and Guru purab are equally auspicious.
It is a land mass that treats everyone equally regardless of what you earn, what is your age or from where you belong to… it is the place that has given me and everyone I love, food and shelter, no matter how much we have criticized it… it is one mother that has only given and never expected anything in return.
I am an Indian and I am very proud of it. And not just proud, but Indian is not a word that defines the Nationality in my passport, Indian is my description.
Indian defines what a person I am… Indian defines that I belong to a land which has a history of producing great scholars… Indian defines the feeling when you land on moon and all you can say is - 'saare jahaan se accha hindustan hamara'… Indian is the values that no matter how much you earn, you still bow low to touch the feet of your elders.
And the list has not even started… it is as huge as it possibly can be. So, back to where I started, how can the entire thing can be wrapped up in just one or two days?

I love my country… and with every day that passes and I live another day on this great land, I cant help but thank God that I was born as a daughter to this country. I don’t care where I land up tomorrow or whatever will become of me, my greatest achievement will only be that I was born here and my greatest ambition or dream in life is that one day people should just look at me with some respect and adoration and say 'She's from India…' … Unlike thousands others, my sole dream is to make my country proud.
And the love and respect I have in my heart for this country, well, it grows every second. Everytime I check, I am more and more in love with the country… Everytime I breathe or eat (for that matter), the debt grows more on me, but it is one thing to take debt as a bank loan and another to treat it like investment where I need to return a lot to the country.

To people not belonging to India, I am no way saying any other country is disgraceful… actually each and every country in itself is so great, that no one, especially like me, can ever bring any disgrace to it. Moreover, a country is made up of its people… and no people in any country are bad. Its just that the people are good enough and some rulers arent… But we can maybe discuss about that later…

Back to the point, if you were to ask me, there is nothing in life greater than my country… its just like my family, in a bigger sense.

But what is happening to this country? Are all the hurdles faced to bring this freedom, being justified? Is freedom only freedom from another's rule?
Freedom is when the society is free of constraints (of any form) to progress… Freedom is when there is no disparity among people; when we all are not jealous but can work collectively in harmony.
And that is the only time that I am waiting for my country to have…

Moreover, freedom can never be won from a single war… it’s a continuous effort… a never ending challenge… which if lost, will make us dominated and everytime we win it against an enemy, we will rise in the world as a better and stronger community.




I don’t wish to lecture anyone about it but rather consider this as a request to anyone and everyone reading it to remember who we are and what responsibilities we have towards this country. All of must be aware enough and enlightened enough to distinguish the right from the collective right. And only when all of us contribute our bit, then we shall get the freedom in real sense.
Sometimes I ponder how different the people have become? Where is the fraternity lost? Why are we all so devoid of human values and the morals we are known for? Common guys, high time! Success and money are very luring but even they will never be able to buy you good friends. Help others so that you get help when you require… care for people who care for you… spread love and not hatred!

If only we do our little bits, I am sure that soon we will gain and restore the real freedom that the people once sacrificed for!
