I am sure everyone has heard this song from the to-be-released movie Ramaiya Vastavaiya, starring Girish (a newbie) and Shruti Hassan.
This movie is a Hindi - remake of the Telugu movie, which also happened to be the directorial debut of Prabhu Deva. Prabhu Deva is the director of this movie as well.
This song is beautifully sung by none other than - Atif Aslam and Shreya Ghoshal.
Critical reception
- Souce : WikipediaAnand Holla of Mumbai Mirror wrote— "Centered on a candyfloss hookline, "Jeene Laga Hoon" has Atif Aslam watermarked all over it. The expansive soundscape helps Aslam's vocals."[4] The Times of India wrote— "Atif Aslam and Shreya Ghoshal sing the first track "Jeene Laga Hoon" beautifully. After a long time humming is made to sound so good in a song. The rhythmic number has a pure romantic feel to it. Shreya's voice is a treat for her fans but the song lacks grandeur. The simple love song has good lyrics."[5] Similarly, Oye! Times wrote— "The lead track of the album, "Jeene Laga Hoon Pehle Se Zyaada", underscores this talent best. The song has universal appeal across ages and demographics and yet does not sound even a whiff dated, though you could almost hear a legend like Mukesh singing it! The lyrics of "Jeene Laga Hoon" are simple and heard-before but of the kind that will always appeal to all, starting with the paradox-laden mukhda that is so reminiscent of Anand Bakshi - Jeene Laga Hoon Pehle Se Zyaada / Pehle Se Zyaada Tum Pe Marne Laga Hoon."
Jeene laga hoon, pehle se zyada
Pehle se zyada, tumpe marne laga hoon
Main mera dil aur tum ho yahaan
Phir kyun ho palkein jhukaye wahaan
Tum sa haseen pehle dekha nahin
Tum is.sey pehle thhe jaane kahaan
Jeene laga hoon pehle se zyada
Pehle se zyada tumpe marne laga...
hmmmmm... ho..
Rehte ho aake jo tum paas mere
Tham jaaye pal yeh wahin
Bas main yeh sochun...
Sochun main tham jaaye pal yeh
Paas mere jab ho tum... (x2)
Chalti hai saansein,
pehle se zyada Pehle se zyada,
dil theharne laga...
Hmmmmm... ho...
Tanhaaiyon mein tujhe dhoonde mera dil
Har pal yeh tujhko hi,
soche bhala kyun
Tanhaai mein dhoonde tujhe dil
Har pal tujhko soche (x2)
Milne lage dil,
pehle se zyada
Pehle se zyada,
ishq hone laga..
Hmmmm... ho...
Honestly, this is one movie I am waiting for just to see how this song gets pictured. Very aptly said by the critics, this song has Atif written all over it. You just have to listen to it once to fall in love with it. Infact, I fell in love with a guy listening to this song ;) and ofcourse got off him as soon as the song ended ;)
The song starts with a little echo / hall effect, which is really wonderful and slow. Then we get the nice beats, which makes this song so lovely. Suddenly, there are words which are way better than many lyrics that I have heard in a long time.
Yes, I am very partial towards this song, but I will still admit that the lyrics are not as good as of Lootera movie,[Lootera movie review - Lootera Movie Review; Lootera Music Review - Lootera Music Review] still, they are really good. After all this is a romantic song and romantic songs are all about feelings. And when you feel love, you have very few words to express it. This song has nicely wrapped the feelings in those few words.
The best part of the song is the way the female playback (Shreya) supports the male part. It is like completing his words - and well that's the whole idea of love, to complete each other! And again, like critics said, this is one song that has a lot of humming, in a good way. One song, that got you humming after a long time. I thought I would write this after the movie release, but I just couldnt stop myself!
PS: If you havent heard the song - DO IT NOW!!
